How to do the Outside Kick

The outside kick uses the outer edge of your foot and is essential for keeping the bag in play when it drifts to your non-dominant side. Mastering it doubles the area of the court you can cover.

STEP BY STEP

  1. Let the bag drift slightly to the outside of your dominant foot.
  2. Swing your leg outward and upward, leading with the outside edge of your foot.
  3. Strike the bag with the outer-foot shelf — the bony ridge above your pinky toe.
  4. Follow through upward so the bag pops to about chest height.
  5. Practice alternating inside and outside kicks to build bilateral control.
